Topic: “Business Soul for the 21st Century” –

A personal journey for making and keeping work meaningful.

 

Pieter is currently the Chief Executive Building Research Association of NZ (BRANZ) from 2008 till now.  His previous roles have been:

  • CEO Registered Master Builders Federation 2005 – 2008
  • CEO Building & Construction Industry Training Organisation (BCITO) 2002 –2008
  • And before these, various Government policy roles and other industry body roles.

 

His key strengths are: 

  • Business Strategy – Pieter’s forte is understanding and driving an organisational business strategy.
  • Output/outcome focus – ensuring businesses Pieter leads have a clear focus on both the outputs (internal focus) and outcomes (external “NZ Inc” focus), so that both are achieved.
  • Stakeholder engagement – a hallmark of Pieter’s career has been ensuring a high level of stakeholder engagement, socialising the organisational business agenda such that it helps achieve required outcomes.
  • Organisational design/HR – Pieter enjoys understanding the ‘system design’ behind a business model, thereby ensuring strong systems and JD alignment within a clear organisational structure. 

Having first completed a law degree, and then segueing sideways to do a carpentry apprenticeship, followed by an MBA and more latterly starting part-time extramural doctoral level studies, Pieter’s career journey has not been about the salary or the prestige, but the ‘value add back to NZ Inc’. 

Pieter is married, has two young-adult daughters (both at University – one another budding lawyer, the other doing business studies), and when not throwing himself at his work or family, reads, travels, and keeps relatively fit. 

Pieter will offer a different career perspective that you might otherwise expect from an organisational CEO!

 Cold Calling covers Cold Calling, Prospecting, the fundamentals of  a doing a winning  Presentation. We also cover the 1 minute speech, together with making a script, Learning about how to be a Purple Cow, and Eating your frog. Sales Leadership covers cold calling, prospecting, and presentation skills, together with territory management, cost to sales ratios, character profiling.

Sales Skills cover everything from opening the sale to closing it down.

Overcoming objections gives you the confidence to overcome objections and close the sale.
